Microsoft continues its “campaign” to bring Chrome users to Edge, this time with the popular email client

For years, Google has been using its aggressive advertising strategy on its web services to entice users to use the Chrome browser. Google asserts that using Chrome will provide a better experience, support more features and greater security. Now, Microsoft uses the same strategy to entice Chrome users to switch to Edge.

“Microsoft Edge + Outlook = Better together”, an ad is attached above the interface of Outlook email service. When clicked, you will be taken directly to the download page of Microsoft’s Edge browser. Although the software giant doesn’t explain why Edge and Outlook are better when used together, instead of other browsers like Chrome.

This is an example of how Microsoft also started using its own services to advertise and entice users to switch to the Edge browser. Interestingly, Microsoft’s ads only show up when users visit Outlook.com on Chrome browser, but do not appear if using other browsers.

Clearly, Microsoft understands that Chrome is currently the browser with the largest number of users in the world today, and also the No. 1 competitor of Edge. Even Edge has to make changes using the same Chromium kernel as Chrome.

Because of this similarity, it’s unclear why Outlook works better on Edge instead of Chrome. It seems the software giant has taken the hat, and has an unconvincing advertising strategy.
