The final round of the “TechGenius Technology Initiative” contest, organized by Hoa Hoc Tro newspaper and RMIT Vietnam University, recognized the great innovations of technology innovators.
Potential ideas from young “technology leaders”
After nearly 9 months of taking place, the contest “TechGenius Technology Initiative” has officially ended with the final round of extremely satisfying eyes. Not only becoming a playground for high school students who are passionate about science and technology across the country, the contest is also a place to honor the unique initiatives of young “technology leaders”.
The top prize in the Engineering category is WP Team with the robot product that collects garbage on the water environment. The group says its device is equipped with sensors and laser radar to identify garbage and avoid obstacles during operation, and can operate all day thanks to the use of solar energy. By testing the product model, members from Son Tay High School, Hanoi successfully convinced the judges of the product’s potential in overcoming the problem of water pollution.

“When participating in the competition, we learned a lot of new things, from the process of creating a website, how to 3D simulate products to how to present ideas,” shared WP Team. In the future, the group hopes to develop more features to measure the pollution level of the water environment as well as filter microplastic particles to ensure safety for aquatic organisms.
The first place in the Engineering category is The Invincibles team with CASS, a device that helps users limit collisions when traveling on the road. The group believes that CASS – which stands for Computer vision (computer vision), Assisted (assistance), Safety (safety) and Signal (signal) – is the solution to the problem of traffic safety in Vietnam. CASS impresses with diverse functions such as red light recognition, signs, and especially judgment of potential accidents and warning users by sound. The creativity of three members from Nguyen Tat Thanh Middle & High School (Hanoi National University of Education) scored strong points with the judges.
Inspired by English learning apps on phones, girls from the Anonymous group have launched A-Eye, an application capable of recognizing letters, distances, and human expressions. The group hopes that the application can become the eyes of the visually impaired, thereby helping them in their daily lives. All three of you are from the Math class of the High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences (Hanoi National University). “At school, every student is supported to pursue Science and Technology regardless of gender, so we feel it is not too strange to be an all-girl team with the school’s name on it.” shared group.
