Many Vietnamese people are deceived because they buy cheap “internal goods” phones and TVs

Tram Ho

In early May, Vingroup announced that it would withdraw from the smartphone and TV segment to focus all its efforts on VinFast. This means that there will not be any new Vsmart smartphones launched, and current models will continue to be sold for the rest of their life.

The obvious problem for a brand that is about to leave the market is inventory. Not only finished products, VinSmart will probably have a large number of components that the company cannot reuse for future projects.

Therefore, not long after announcing its withdrawal from the smartphone and TV segment, Vingroup conducted “liquidation” of its products at extremely shocking prices for employees. For example, the Vsmart Aris Pro with advanced hidden camera technology, which used to have a list price of VND 9.9 million at the time of launch, is now only VND 3.4 million. Mid-range and low-cost smartphone models of the Star, Joy, and Live series also have prices ranging from 1-2 million VND. Not only smartphones, but Vsmart-branded TVs and air purifiers are also “on sale” at prices 50 to 70% cheaper than the original price.

Some Vsmart products are sold on Vingroup’s internal website for employees

As mentioned above, only Vingroup employees can enjoy this preferential price through an internal shopping website of the group. However, the information about this program was exposed, making many users want to have the need to own them. In addition, many Vingroup employees also took this opportunity to “collect goods” to sell out, making the market for “internal goods” Vsmart products even more exciting.

However, taking advantage of users’ cheap psychology, some objects have taken this opportunity to commit fraudulent acts online. These subjects post articles for sale of Vsmart products on social networks at low prices. To become more convincing, some subjects even identified themselves as employees of Vingroup.

When buyers contact, they will be asked to deposit 100,000 to 200,000 VND via phone card because the product is not available. When receiving the card code and successfully reloading, the bad object will block contact with the buyer. These subjects are always looking for ways to refuse direct transactions. Even the subject below also used the reason that the area I live in has an F1 case.

In fact, this scam motif has appeared many times before, mainly hitting the cheap desire of users. Objects often use phone cards as a form of payment, because they are of small value, not enough to prosecute criminal liability. In addition, unlike the bank account number, the person being deceived cannot determine the identity of the bad guy through the phone card.

Currently, because all internal transactions of Vsmart products are sold through unofficial channels (forums, social networks), the buyer is accepting many risks. Buyers are advised to transact in person instead of online to increase security.
