Many iPhone, iPad and MacBook models in Vietnam are the cheapest in the world

Selling out, increasing the price in the opening phase, the iPhone market in Vietnam suddenly quickly “turned the car” at a dizzying speed recently. Retailers – receiving support from Apple – are racing to reduce the prices of the latest generation iPhone models, turning Vietnam into one of the markets with the cheapest iPhone prices in the world at the moment.

For example, the 128GB iPhone 14 model is being sold in Vietnam for VND 19.9 million, lower than a series of familiar tier-1 markets such as Hong Kong (20.7 million), Singapore (22.3 million). ) or Thailand (23 million). Only in the US, where iPhone 14 is listed for 799 USD (about 18.6 million VND) the new iPhone 14 price is lower than Vietnam, but this is the price without tax. If additional taxes are imposed, the price of iPhone 14 in the US will also jump to VND 19.8-20 million – similar to the Vietnamese market.

Prices of iPhone 14 products in Vietnam compared to some tier 1 markets.

Similar is the case of iPhone 14 Plus, with a selling price of 22.9 million in Vietnam but up to 25-26 million in Singapore or Thailand. Hong Kong – a place famous for its very cheap iPhone prices is also listing this product for 23.7 million dong.

Meanwhile, iPhone 14 Pro Max in Vietnam is also having a very attractive price, about 28.5 million VND – only higher than in the US (25.5 million – excluding tax) and Hong Kong (28.2 million).

Particularly, the iPhone 14 Pro version is currently priced at about 26.9 million VND, which is also a very low level compared to many other markets.

Sharing about the surprisingly low price of iPhone 14 series in Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy – representative of CellphoneS chain said that this is simply a supply-demand problem because after a huge shortage in November last year, the quantity goods poured into very large retail chains, causing the supply to increase sharply while the demand of buyers decreased deeply due to general difficulties. “Demand is down, supply is high, so prices have to fall. The more supply exceeds demand, the deeper the price drops,” said Huy.

According to him, this is a rare time that the inventory for iPhone 14 is now enough to sell for 6 months. This forces resellers to reduce product prices.

According to an unnamed expert in the retail industry, another big reason why dealers have to sell the iPhone 14 “crash” price comes from bank interest rates. “With the deposit interest rate at about 10%, the loan interest rate is understandable at 13-14%, even more depending on the relationship of the agent, the distributor with the bank. With high profits, a lot of inventory, dealers have to accept to cut losses to recover money because it is still cheaper to sell at a loss than hold goods to pay bank interest,” this person said.

Notably, not only iPhone, some iPad models such as iPad gen 9, ipad gen 10 or MacBook Air M1 being sold in Vietnam are also the cheapest in the world. Gen 9 iPad is being sold for 7.5 million VND for the lowest version while the 10th gen iPad is 10.9 million VND. In fact, over the years, there have been many times when the price of iPads in Vietnam is lower than the US market.

MacBook Air M1 in Vietnam has a much lower price than most other markets.

Meanwhile, the MacBook Air M1 has just been reduced to 19.9 million, up to 3 million lower than the US market. According to information from many dealers, this is not only the best-selling MacBook model but also the laptop that brings in the best revenue for retailers in the last period of 2022 – early 2023.

According to many people in the profession, this is still a story related to inventory. During the period of iPhone shortage, many dealers were asked to import a lot of iPads, MacBooks, iPhone accessories if they wanted to be given priority to import iPhone 14 series in large quantities in the form of “beer with peanuts”. Therefore, at this time, agents are massively “discharging” these products to recover capital.
