MacBook launch soon, Apple wants to ‘fight’ with the portable market?

A retailer in Vietnam opened for sale MacBook Air and MacBook Pro yesterday on December 24, just five weeks after the machines opened for sale in key markets. The progress of bringing Apple products to Vietnam is earlier than before, similar to the way the iPhone 12 is sold early.

Mai Trieu Nguyen, owner of Mai Nguyen stores, said Apple is shortening the time to bring its products to Vietnam. Previously, when the international market was available for about 2 months, the goods distributed by Apple could officially be sold. Recently, however, the stock went on sale earlier.

For example, the iPhone 12 product line has just been officially opened for sale in Vietnam on November 27, a week earlier than expected, in the context of the portable market there are not as many devices as before.

The MacBook launch yesterday also 1 week earlier than expected. There is only one system open to sell new Apple computers, many other large and small retail chains are still scheduled to ship to customers in January 2021.

The MacBook Air, MacBook Pro this time marks a new turning point for Apple in particular and the computer chip market in general. It is the first time that the US computer company uses a M1 chip designed by itself on ARM architecture – popular in making mobile processors. Apple didn’t integrate Intel-made processors like before.

After the MacBook runs on the M1 chip on the market, many positive reviews are devoted to pioneering products. They have better battery life and better performance than Intel-powered MacBooks.

During the opening session yesterday in Vietnam, a test technician showed that the MacBook Air running M1 chip completed a video file before compared to a similar machine running Intel chip. The time difference is almost 2 minutes.

Due to the high appreciation of experts, Apple’s new series is quite hot. According to FPT Shop chain, 150 MacBooks were delivered to users within the first 2 hours of opening.

Not only bringing the device back early, the MacBook’s price is not much different from the laptop.

MacBook M1 2020 has 2 products: MacBook Air 13 ”M1 and MacBook Pro 13” Touch Bar M1. In particular, the MacBook Air 13 ”M1 is priced at 28,990,000 VND for the 256GB version and 34,990,000 VND for the 512GB version.

Currently in the portable market, the two above machines are sold for 28.8 million dong and 34.4 million dong, only a few hundred thousand dong cheaper.

The MacBook Pro 13 ”Touch Bar M1 is priced at 34,990,000 VND for the 256GB version and 39,990,000 VND for the 512GB version. In the portable market, these machines are priced at 32.9 million and 39.9 million dong respectively.

According to Mai Trieu Nguyen, Apple seems to want to limit the influence of the portable market by bringing products to sell early in Vietnam, while at the same time having a better price policy. This is not only done on the iPhone but also on the MacBook.

Besides the MacBook, yesterday the Mac Mini M1 line was also launched, priced at VND21,990,000 for the 256GB version and VND 29,990 for the 512GB version.
