1. Administration of users in wordpress

  • The user administration feature in wordpress allows us to customize not only ourselves but also other accounts authorized to use and administer the website.
  • We can create user groups in wordpress that can be pre-installed or limited a number of different permissions, can set up or use additional support plugins. For example, if you want to create a person who only has permission to edit a post but does not allow adding and posting new articles on the website

2. Add new users and manage

  • In this section, we will guide you to create and manage users easily

Create new users:

  • Go to Dashboard -> Users -> All Users -> Add New
  • The fields in the create new user section include:
  • Username (required): The username of the user when accessing the website
  • Email (required): Email of the user, this email will also be used in the send user notification section
  • First name: The name of the user
  • Last name: Last name of the user
  • Website: The website address of the user
  • Password: The password of the user (this password can be created by itself or the system will automatically create a random password)
  • Send user notification: User information will be sent to the email when registration is complete
  • Role: Set access rights for users
  • After entering all the above information, Add new user to finish creating a new user

Edit user:

  • To view and edit the user, simply visit the user list page then select the user to edit

3. Describe the role of the user

  • To view each user’s role, go to Dashboard -> Users -> All Users -> Add New (Role)
  • There will be 4 role groups here: Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor, Administrator
  • Subscriber: With this group, users are only allowed to manage personal information
  • Contributor: With this group users can only edit and delete their own posts, but cannot edit or delete published posts.
  • Editor: With this group users can write, edit, publish and delete posts, including articles written by other users. They can also moderate, approve and delete comments. They have full management rights regarding the article.
  • Author: With this group users with the author role can upload files, write, edit, publish and delete their own posts. They can also edit their personal information
  • Administrator: With this group the user can perform all actions on the site.
