A representative of VinFast told the media that “Air Permit allows us to start construction phase 1. We will start soon”. However, a specific start time is not mentioned; It is known that before that, VinFast had completed the site preparation.

In phase 1, VinFast will build a factory with a capacity of 150,000 vehicles/year. Total investment at this stage is 2 billion USD. In phase 2, VinFast will focus on producing batteries for electric vehicles. According to the plan, VinFast’s factory in North Carolina, USA will start operating from 2024, helping to create more than 7,000 jobs.

According to information posted on the portal of the Environmental Quality Agency of North Carolina, USA, VinFast has completed the application for Air Permit since December and the company has just received the certificate since February 9. .

In addition to emissions certification, VinFast has also applied for a certificate from the US Army Corps of Engineers – a unit established to minimize the harm to water and swamp quality.

The factory in the US can be considered the most important “move” for VinFast. The local factory helps VinFast produce more competitive products; In addition, the car factory in the US is also an important condition for VinFast cars to meet the criteria of receiving tax incentives of up to 7,500 USD from the US government.

This incentive is an important issue, directly affecting the competitiveness of an electric vehicle in the market. Criteria for approval to receive incentives focus on the origin of the vehicle and the origin of raw materials, with priority given to products from the US or allied countries.
