Hello everyone, I’m Dat, working as a BA for an e-wallet company in Vietnam, a BA with just over 1 year of experience. Some people here may think: “This guy has only 1 year of experience and asks to share something”. I’m sure… I’ll let you guys comment on your personal opinion!
To be honest, in the past 12 years, I have found that BA is extremely hot, so hot that anyone can think that BA is a profession that anyone can turn to. I’m not saying it’s wrong, if you try you will succeed. But I will still point out the things that if you do not want to change, you will never be a BA.
- Just wait for others to assign work and complete your task.
- Do not want to communicate with many people, only like tasks that have a small connection scope
- Likes isolated, timid, self-deprecating lifestyle.
If you are making the above mistakes, you need to change if you want to marry a BA!
Which background is most suitable for career development?
This question is too difficult to answer. Many people say that IT background is the most suitable, but let me tell my story!
Before, I was a Developer, life is like having a task assigned to do it, then it’s done. Don’t think after finishing that feature, does anyone use it? Or is the feature I made really effective, right?
After I turned to BA, those thoughts began to have severe consequences. When I didn’t focus on learning the business and analyzing, I jumped to come up with a solution by proposing to make this app, this feature but sometimes the feature is redundant, meaningless, and doesn’t bring any benefits. What is the value for the business or the customer, it is very costly for the company’s resources
Second, my ability to communicate is also limited. Because in the program of the IT industry as well as my thought when I was in school, communication skills did not show the importance. Leads to me finding that organizing meetings, hosting hosting is less effective.
But in return, I work with the project team quite smoothly because I understand the work they need to do. Help me prepare tasks before the meeting better and stick to the project progress better, because I know where I am stuck. From there, I can discuss with the team to suggest a solution.
So I personally see, every profession has its advantages and disadvantages to start as a BA. As long as you feel that you are suitable and want to develop with a BA career, you can start

Should start where?
I myself have experienced a 2-month BA course, and I find it quite effective. At that time, in addition to helping me understand more about the profession and work of the BA, it also gave me more confidence to interview. HOWEVER , looking back now, I see that the information and knowledge on the internet (blogs, youtube, BA communities on facebook,…) is more than enough for you to self-study and understand about BA profession.
