After many leaked rumors, at the “Far out” event held at dawn on September 7 in Vietnam time, Apple officially introduced the iPhone 14 series with the appearance of 4 versions: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In this year’s iPhone 14 generation, Apple has removed the mini version. Thus, the iPhone 14 has only 2 size options, 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.
With iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, this duo has the same design compared to its predecessor, still a glossy glass back, aluminum frame, notch screen on the front and a dual camera cluster. Apple introduces 5 color options for iPhone 14 and 14 Plus: black, starlight, blue, purple and red.
iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have OLED screens, the resolution stays the same, no 120Hz high refresh rate. This monitor has a brightness of up to 1200 nits and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. The notch area remains the same size and is where the selfie camera first supports autofocus with TrueDepth camera cluster.
On the back, Apple still equips the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus with dual 12MP wide-angle and super-wide-angle cameras, integrated with Sensor-shift OIS sensor anti-shake technology. The upgrade mainly comes from software and new image processing algorithms, improving low-light photography.
This year’s iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are still only equipped with the Apple A15 Bionic chip with a few small improvements in performance and a separate ISP image processing chip. The amount of RAM and storage was not announced by Apple at the event.
Another difference of this year’s iPhone 14 and 14 Plus is that the version sold in the US market has no sim slot, only uses eSIM, supports 3 carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The satellite communication feature will also only support the US and Canadian markets.
iPhone 14 and 14 Plus have a starting price of 799 USD and 899 USD, pre-order from September 9 and go on sale from September 16 for iPhone 14 and October 7 for iPhone 14 Plus.
