iOS 16 beta 5 adds features iPhone users have been waiting for years

At dawn on August 9, Apple released beta version 5 of iOS 16 to fix bugs left on previous beta versions, and add a few small features, including visibility, battery percentage directly on the iPhone’s status bar.

Specifically, on beta 5, iPhone users can now see their remaining battery percentage right in the status bar without having to swipe down on Control Center. The battery percentage will be located right in the battery icon located in the right corner of the screen, not next to it.

iOS 16 beta 5 adds iPhone battery percentage view feature

Since 2017 when Apple introduced the iPhone “rabbit ears”, due to a partial defect in the screen, the iPhone could not display the battery percentage in the status bar, instead it was just a column icon, Wi-Fi and battery icon. This inconvenience only appears on iPhones with “rabbit ears”, iPhone SE models using the old design with a 16: 9 screen are not affected.

Although in the iPhone 13 Pro generation, Apple has minimized the screen gap, but for some reason, the iPhone still cannot display the battery percentage in the status bar. The only way to see the battery percentage is to drag the Control Center from the right corner of the screen.

With the new iOS 16 beta 5 update, the battery percentage will be available anytime, anywhere without the user needing to do anything more. It is highly likely that Apple will retain this feature on the iOS 16 version officially released with the iPhone 14 in September.
