Intel is developing chips on the 3nm process to beat the Apple M1

Since Apple switched to using its own chips, it is clear that Intel is trying very hard to beat its one-time partner. Although in terms of power, Intel has products that can surpass the Apple M1, but in terms of energy efficiency, they are far behind. Now, a leaked roadmap has revealed a new Intel chip, designed to beat the M1 in every respect.

Intel’s 15th generation CPUs called “Arrow Lake” showed that Intel really wants to take on Apple. In this generation, Intel will prioritize mobile chips over desktop chips, focusing on saving energy while still delivering good performance.

To achieve this, Intel will consolidate its resources with 3-nanometer technology from TSMC, which also makes Apple Silicon chips. The new Arrow Lake CPUs are expected to feature 6 performance cores and 8 power-saving cores, so the computer doesn’t use too much power when performing lighter tasks.

The company’s main focus is on laptop equipment, specifically targeting Apple’s 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro. And from what we know, Intel’s chip will have 14 cores compared to 10 cores of the M1 Pro/M1 Max.

However, while the M1 is already on the market in three different variants, the new chip from Intel is expected to be released by the end of 2023.

Of course, Intel may succeed in beating Apple’s M1 series of chips, but it seems too late. Until the company is able to ship the next generation of Intel processors, Apple is gearing up to release the next generation of Silicon chips for Macs, which will certainly be even more energy efficient and more powerful than their predecessors.
