Just a few days after the official launch, Zack (YouTube channel JerryRigEverything) posted a video dissecting the newly launched flagship OnePlus 8T. The dissection gives us a better look inside the flagship as well as its unique battery design.

When Zack opens the back, we will see the NFC coil placed on the outside but no wireless charging coil. After removing the 16 Philips screws, we will see the speakerphone at the bottom without the waterproof rubber gasket. More interestingly, inside this speaker there are many tiny bubbles, to help the sound emanating from it become louder.

But the most interesting thing is the dual battery design in the OnePlus 8T. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like the OnePlus 8T’s battery is a dual battery, but everyone can see it thanks to the notch in the center of the battery block. With two 2,250 mAh batteries, the OnePlus 8T has a 4,500 mAh battery capacity.

This dual battery design aims to bring one of the most special features of this flagship, fast charging up to 65W. Normally, Lithium-Ion batteries can hardly withstand charging speeds greater than 30W, but thanks to this double battery design, the charging speed of the OnePlus 8T has more than doubled compared to its predecessor.

Many other companies also use this dual-battery design to increase fast charging capacity up to 65W and beyond. This has appeared on devices from Oppo, Vivo, Realme and now OnePlus.

Whether the speakerphone doesn’t have a waterproof rubber seal, the speaker slots, the charging port, some of the cables inside, and the SIM slot have a rubber ring to prevent water. However, the OnePlus 8T itself doesn’t have an official IP score. Most previous OnePlus devices are also water resistant but don’t have an official IP score. Chances are the company didn’t want to spend extra money getting certified for this feature in order to keep its device affordable.

Cooling system

To cool the processor, the OnePlus 8T uses a graphite sticker and a copper plate over a silver-white metal piece, protecting the chips underneath. Remove it, you can also see the thermal paste on the top to keep the CPU at a reasonable temperature. This heatsink is even used by OnePlus on both sides of the motherboard.

And yet, inside the chassis, OnePlus also equips a piece of copper heatsink for the battery, to conduct heat from the battery and the processor to escape to the screen. Even more interesting is that even the camera module has the appearance of graphite stickers and copper plate for heat dissipation. It can be said that heat dissipation is the second biggest highlight on the OnePlus 8T, after its 65W fast charging ability.

While the exterior design and design do not have much to do with its predecessor or other competitors, it is clear that OnePlus is working to improve the internal structure of the device, making it more interesting. and more resilient.
