In 2017, Apple launched the iPhone X, the first iPhone to feature an OLED screen instead of a traditional LCD. OLED displays have more advantages, like more battery saving, thinner, higher contrast, more realistic colors and faster response speed. In addition, the characteristics of the OLED screen also help manufacturers to narrow the bezel.
Until last year, all iPhone 11 models were equipped with OLED screens, only the iPhone XR still uses LCD screens. Although the OLED screen has many outstanding advantages, it also has disadvantages. These include the burn-in error or the appearance of blue stripes permanently on the screen.

So iFixit has launched a LCD replacement pack for iPhone X, Xs and Xs Max. Significantly cheaper price than replacing OLED screen.
The LCD screens for iFixit’s iPhone X, Xs and Xs Max are priced at $ 74.99, $ 84.99 and $ 164.99 respectively. While the price to replace Apple’s OLED screen is up to 279 – 329 USD.
“We are currently offering LCD screen replacement options for iPhone X, Xs and Xs Max,” iFixit said in a statement. LCD monitors (including repair kits) cost half the price of an OLED display. The LCD screen will be a bit darker, the resolution is a bit lower and the color contrast ratio is not the same as the OLED screen. ”
Perhaps this would be an alternative for those on a tight budget, or for those who dislike OLED screens. Note, however, that some features may not work with LCD screens, such as the feature that automatically adjusts the screen’s color and brightness to suit the environment.
