How to fix blue screen error when updating NVIDIA Drivers for Windows 10
- Tram Ho
Video card (or GPU for short) is a pretty important piece of hardware in a computer if its user is a gamer. And for the GPU to perform at its best, updating drivers regularly is a must. The problem is that the release of its GPU driver updates takes a long time, often “behind” the computer operating system with a new version.
Therefore, it is common for GPU driver developers to release Beta versions to test the compatibility of the GPU with the new computer operating system. And as you know, Beta is not always really stable, and sometimes causes bugs. The most familiar is the blue screen of death error, also known as Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD).
In case if you are using an NVIDIA video card and the BSOD error appears as soon as you install the NVIDIA Drivers version for Windows 10, this article will suggest you solutions, specifically as follows.
Using Device Manager
If you downloaded NVIDIA Drivers manually and are trying to install it, you can skip the manual update and use Device Manager instead.
Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Then in the Device Manager window, expand the Display Adapter hardware section and right-click the NVIDIA video card name that appears and select Update Drivers.
Click the “Search online for updates” option and proceed to install NVIDIA Drivers if it is officially released. When the installation is complete, restart the computer to check the results.
Note: If Device Manager can’t find a driver update, but the NVIDIA website is available, don’t download and install it because your operating system may not be ready to update, and the installation ” coercion” can destabilize the system.
Using the Roll Back Driver feature
Boot Windows into Safe Mode, then expand the Display Adapter hardware section in Device Manager, right-click the NVIDIA video card name that appears and select Properties.
Click on the Driver tab and then click on the “Roll Back Driver” button. Then follow the suggested actions.
Using the GeForce Experience app
Released by NVIDIA, GeForce Experience allows you to tweak these settings to make your gaming experiences perfect. The settings include: resolution, effects, filters, environment quality, full screen mode, character, PhysX and many other factors. In addition, it also has the ability to automatically update the latest GeForce driver version, adding many new features from these versions to help the video card work at its best.
