How to delete regular browsing history on Chrome turns out to be not as ‘clean’ as we thought, still need to do another step

Tram Ho

For various reasons, including ‘subtle’ reasons, quite a few users regularly use the feature to delete their browsing history on Chrome browser.

Normally, users often try to clear browsing data as quickly as possible by pressing the “Ctrl”+”Y” key combination on the keyboard. At the same time, users can also click on the three dots in the top right corner of Chrome and select “history”, then select the option “clear browsing data”. Quite unexpectedly, neither of the above methods turned out to completely remove browsing data. Google still records some of your activity while surfing the web, including search history.

Accordingly, to completely remove the data associated with your account, users need to take one more hidden step.

To remove your data from Google, you must first click on the profile icon in the top right corner next to the search bar. You will then click “Manage Your Google Account” This will take you to a screen with multiple tabs. Then, in the search bar at the top of the page, type “My Activity”, and select the first result to visit.

This will take you to a screen that manages all the activities or interactions you’ve ever done on Chrome, including previous search history.

From here, you can filter the data based on website or date, or just click the “delete” button to clear it all. There will be an option to delete all searches that were ever performed or only within a certain time frame.

Before everything is completely deleted, Google will notify you of which service your search history comes from, such as Chrome or Youtube.

After performing this step, your browsing history will be completely deleted, but Google keeps some other data to help improve its services.
