However, this is not the only source of income for Youtubers. Kelly Anne Smith, owner of a personal finance YouTube channel with 50,000 followers, says her biggest source of income comes from affiliate marketing, advertising and selling courses.

Smith shared: “From the very beginning I knew I could make money from YouTube. But I don’t think I can build my own channel and brand like now.” She said, a month she earns about 3,100 USD, of which more than 1,000 USD comes from affiliate marketing. In addition, revenue from advertising brings her more than 900 USD/month.

Smith shares that he has a specific ad placement strategy in place to maximize earnings from YouTube’s partner program. However, this income range will fluctuate from month to month.

She will often make videos longer than 10 minutes so that she can insert ads at the beginning, middle and end of the video. Another method Smith uses to increase ad revenue is to direct viewers to older videos. For example, at the end of the video, she’ll direct her followers to two related videos she’s filmed on that topic.

“This helps viewers interact on my channel. This is also something that YouTube encourages,” Smith shared.
