Both the Ryzen™ 7040 Series and the Ryzen™ 7045 Series for laptops use the Zen 4 architecture with proven performance on the desktop AMD Ryzen™ 7000 series. Combined with advanced manufacturing processes and many new technologies, laptops equipped with these two CPU lines are highly anticipated.
AMD Ryzen™ 7045 “Dragon Range” Series
With the goal of becoming the top powerful CPU for laptops, the AMD Ryzen™ 7045 series possesses a series of outstanding parameters. At the top is the Ryzen™ 9 7945HX with 16 cores 32 threads, clocked at up to 5.4GHz, 80MB L2 + L3 cache. Regarding TDP, OEMs (laptop manufacturers) can configure from 55 – 75W. AMD says that the single- and multi-threaded performance of this processor outperforms the Ryzen™ 9 6900HX by 18% and 78%, respectively.
With the above impressive parameters, Ryzen™ 9 7945HX promises to deliver performance that is not inferior to leading desktop processors and leading in the mobile segment.
In addition, AMD also offers a number of lower options including Ryzen™ 9 7845HX with 12 cores and 24 threads, Ryzen™ 7 7745HX with 8 cores and 16 threads and Ryzen™ 5 7645HX with 6 cores and 12 threads. All are manufactured on TSMC’s 5nm process to ensure superior energy efficiency compared to the competition.

While the Ryzen™ 7045 “Dragon Range” Series focuses entirely on leading performance, the AMD Ryzen™ 7040 “Phoenix” Series is perfectly balanced in every way.
The Ryzen™ 7040 series CPUs still ensure strong performance but have a lower TDP aimed at thin and light laptops that still want high performance. In addition, this CPU line is also integrated with an extremely powerful GPU using the company’s latest RDNA 3 architecture. In which the highest option is up to 12 cores running at high clocks for performance that can destroy even energy-saving discrete GPU models.

Ryzen™ 7040 Series will include both HS series and U series, however U-series for thin and light laptops will be released later. Currently we have versions available including Ryzen™ 9 7940HS with 8 cores 16 threads clocked up to 5.2GHz and Ryzen™ 7 7840HS with 8 cores 16 threads clocked at 5.1GHz, both with integrated Radeon GPU ™ 780M with 12 cores. Finally, there’s the 6-core 12-thread Ryzen™ 5 7640HS clocked at up to 5.0GHz, with an 8-core Radeon™ 760M GPU integrated.
With the above exciting information, the Ryzen™ 7040 and Ryzen™ 7045 CPU series are really worth looking forward to. Hopefully laptop manufacturers will soon launch more products equipped with these processors and soon bring them to the Vietnamese market for users to have more attractive options.
