Honor Magic4 Ultimate launched with huge upgraded camera, highest score by DxOMark

After the Magic4 duo was introduced at the MWC 2022 exhibition in February, Honor has recently launched the Magic4 Ultimate version with a more powerfully upgraded camera. With the most advanced camera system, this device is ranked by DxOMark at number 1 in the list of smartphones with the best camera on the market.

Magic4 Ultimate has the same design language as the standard version and the Pro version launched last month. On the back, the device has a large camera system that occupies almost half of the body. According to Honor announced, the main sensor has been upgraded in size from 1/1.56-inch to 1/1.12-inch, keeping the same 50MP resolution, from which a pixel has a large size of 1.4µm (2.8µm if interpolated points. Honor confidently claims that the camera sensor on the Magic4 Ultimate is comparable to cameras with 1-inch sensors and f/1.8 lenses. The DxOMark site, which specializes in evaluating and scoring camera devices, also gave a score of 146 points, the highest ever and ranked Honor Magic4 Ultimate at number 1, surpassing Huawei P50 Pro.

The ultra-wide-angle camera is also upgraded on the Ultimate version when it has a 1/2 inch size, a higher resolution (64MP compared to 50MP), a viewing angle of up to 126 degrees and has a 7P lens, f/2.2 aperture. covered with a special coating. There is also a 50MP spectral camera to assist in taking pictures. The 64MP 3.5X telephoto camera remains the same and has an additional dToF depth camera with a color temperature sensor.

On the front, Magic4 Ultimate retains the 12MP selfie camera with a 100-degree wide-angle view and a 3D sensor for face unlock.

Another upgrade on Magic4 Ultimate comes from a dedicated image processing chip (ISP) developed by Honor itself. This chip has a processing performance of 28.8 TOPS, can process 20-bit images per color channel, and provides 4K video preview in night mode.

The dedicated ISP chip also allows the Magic4 Ultimate to be capable of recording log video (Magic-Log2), thereby improving the dynamic range (DR) by 15%, supporting 3D LUTS simultaneously and can record 4K video 60FPS in 10-bit color log mode.

Besides the main camera upgrade, Magic4 Ultimate has the remaining hardware parameters similar to the Pro version, including Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 12GB RAM, 512GB memory. The device has a 6.81-inch LTPO OLED screen of 1-120Hz, a resolution of 1312 x 2848 pixels, a PWM pulse frequency of 1920Hz. The included battery has a capacity of 4600mAh, supporting 100W wired fast charging to 50W wireless.

Magic4 Ultimate will be available in China for 8000 yuan, equivalent to 28.9 million.
