Hoi An man develops free guidebook app for tourists

If you are going to visit the old town of Hoi An for the first time and are still confused about where to go, what to eat, check out this free application developed by a local man.

Le Quoc Tien, 24, is the developer of Hoi An Local Guidebook, a 14 MB app for Android that can be downloaded free from Google Play.

Tourist can consult it for tourist attractions, restaurants, street food locations, hotels and hostels, and others.

The application can be used without an Internet connection, and is in both Vietnamese and English.

Tien said he was part of a group that acted as free tour guides for tourists in Hoi An two years ago when he was a student, and got the idea of developing such an app.

He first introduced it last year, and earlier this month he updated it after doing more research on the town’s tourist attractions.

Tien said he and his friends went personally to every spot to inspect and take photos as well as seek tourists’ opinions before updating the app.
