In the past time, although there have been many warnings about the tricks of calling fake police agencies to scam and appropriate property, there are still people who fall into traps of the subjects. When the incident happened, the victim was afraid of losing credibility, so in some cases, he did not report to the police agency, causing difficulties for investigation and handling.

Recently, Dong Anh District Police, Hanoi city is verifying and investigating the case of impersonating a police officer, fraudulently appropriating property with an amount of more than 2.2 billion VND.

Accordingly, on April 25, 2023, Dong Anh District Police received a report from Mr. T (SN 1982; residence: Dong Anh, Hanoi) about receiving a phone call from a subject. claiming to be a police officer. The subject informed that Mr. T was involved in a case of money laundering and drug trafficking.

The subject then asked him to install the software, log into his account on the phone and provide information to prove unrelated. Mr. T discovered that his Internet Banking account could not be logged in, so he went to the ATM to check and found that his account had lost more than 2.2 billion VND. Only then did he realize he had been tricked and went to the police station to report it.

The Hanoi police advised people to be vigilant and propagate to relatives and friends about the above tricks to avoid being trapped by bad actors. To work with people, the Public Security Agency will directly send invitations, summons or send it through the local police; absolutely do not require citizens to transfer money to bank accounts. When detecting cases of fraud as above, people should immediately report to the nearest police agency.
