Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the two newest members of the club “elite” centibillionaire, including billionaires owning assets of over $ 100 billion. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the Google co-founder “pocketed” more than $ 20 billion this year thanks to growth in technology stocks. Specifically, Page is the 6th richest person in the world with a fortune of $ 103.6 billion, while Brin is ranked 8th with a fortune of $ 100.2 billion.

Other personalities include Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, billionaire Warren Buffett, and luxury fashion magnate Bernard Arnault.

The centibillionaire count over the past three years has improved thanks to the booming stock market, especially in technology stocks, making them richer now. This year alone, the wealth of the eight richest people in the world has increased by $ 110 billion, bringing the total assets to more than $ 1 trillion, or 1/3 of the UK’s GDP.

In July 1999, Bill Gates was the first person to hit the $ 100 billion mark in the dotcom bubble. Even so, his fortune declined as Microsoft shares fell. He “reintegrates” the centibillionaire community in 2019 and currently holds about $ 145 billion.

Jeff Bezos topped the list with a net worth of $ 196.6 billion. He joined the club in 2017 because of Amazon’s stock price soared, helping the company cross the $ 1 trillion mark a year later.

However, Musk’s rise is truly special. Tesla is one of the companies that have benefited most from the Covid-19 translation. Shares of the electric car maker have risen more than 400% in the past 12 months, helping Musk’s fortune grow to $ 174.8 billion and become the second richest person in the world.

Shares of Alphabet – the parent company Google – are up 31% this year, making them one of the best-performing stocks among tech stocks, beating Amazon, Apple and Facebook.

Last week, Forbes magazine revealed that nearly 90% of billionaires were richer than a year ago, despite the disease that rioted the corporate market. According to the list, the world has 2,755 billionaires, total assets worth $ 13.1 trillion, up sharply from a year ago, when there were only 660 billionaires with a combined net worth of $ 8 trillion.
