Fold-screen smartphones are still not very popular and with major technical challenges, repairing these devices is also quite expensive. In particular, since flexible displays are the most important part of a folding screen smartphone, their screen replacement costs are more expensive than conventional phones.

Less than a week after the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung recently announced the repair / replacement fee for its new clamshell smartphone in South Korea and the US.

In South Korea, the replacement of the Galaxy Z Flip screen will cost owners a large amount of money up to 753,000 won (approximately 14.7 million). Meanwhile, users in the US will need to spend 499 USD (about 11.6 million) for folding screens and 149 USD (about 3.5 million) for 1.1 inch screen on the back.

For comparison, the Galaxy Fold has a significantly bigger secondary screen than the Galaxy Z Flip but has an equivalent replacement fee, although its main screen repair cost is $ 100 more than the Galaxy Z Flip and at 599 USD (about 13.9 million). In addition, to replace the glass back of the Galaxy Z Flip, you will also need to spend 99 USD (~ 2.3 million VND).

Like the Galaxy Fold, Samsung will also offer a discount on screen replacement for the first time to Galaxy Z Flip users. Specifically, the screen repair fee of this phone will be reduced to 225,900 won (approximately 4.4 million) in South Korea. In the US, it will cost $ 119 (about 2.8 million), as long as the device is purchased before December 31, 2020.

For comparison, the first screen replacement fee of the Galaxy Z Flip is still cheaper than the Galaxy Fold – currently applied for $ 149. Basically, the Galaxy Z Flip is priced at $ 600 cheaper than the Galaxy Fold, so there’s not much difference when it comes to repairing the screens of these two phones. .
