Former Samsung employee revealed that Galaxy S22 series will be launched globally with Snapdragon chip, instead of Exynos

Samsung will launch the Galaxy S22 series in early 2022, opening a new era, with the Galaxy S22 Ultra equipped with an S-Pen and replacing the Galaxy Note series. According to the latest LetsGoDigital leak, the former Samsung employee has revealed another major change of the upcoming Galaxy S22 series.

This is quite surprising news, as this source claims that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S22 series globally with the Snapdragon 898 chip, and completely skip the use of its own Exynos chip.

Previously, Samsung still used self-developed Exynos chips in most markets around the globe, except for the US market and a few other special markets that used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip. As Galaxy S21 series comes with Snapdragon 888 chip in US, Canada, China and Japan, but uses Exynos 2100 chip in other global markets.

The reason for this sudden change, given by a former Samsung employee, is because of a global chip shortage. According to this source, the production of Samsung’s Exynos 2200 chip is facing many difficulties. The Korean giant may not be able to produce enough Exynos 2200 chips until the Galaxy S22 series launches early next year.

Perhaps the main barrier to the production of the Exynos 2200 chip is Samsung’s ambitious integrated GPU graphics chip. Samsung’s next processor is expected to come with a 6-core AMD RDNA2 GPU, including support for ray tracing technology that first appeared on smartphones.

However, shortly after this information was announced, IceUniverse and GalaxyClub said that the Galaxy S22 series with Exynos 2200 chip will still be launched in certain markets, instead of being completely replaced by Snapdragon 898 version. Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to respond to these reports.
