For the first time in Samsung history, renting a new phone, renting Galaxy S20 Ultra costs VND 1 million per month

The Galaxy S20 series did not achieve the sales success that Samsung expected, and the cause was not only due to the corona virus pandemic. This health crisis has affected worldwide smartphone sales, especially in the second quarter of this year, as more and more countries introduced unprecedented measures to limit the spread, millions of people are suddenly unemployed. But the main problem with the Galaxy S20 lies in the pricing structure. The cheapest version of it costs up to $ 999 before discounts and promotions, which is $ 300 higher than the cheapest version of the iPhone 11. The 11-inch iPhone usually starts at $ 699, and here is the best-selling phone in the first quarter.

Samsung is currently preparing to launch two new flagship phones: the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2. Both will be expensive devices, with the folding screen phone likely to cost more. 1,500 USD. In preparation for that, Samsung recently launched a new smartphone subscription service in the hopes that it could convince more users to buy more expensive phones.

Called Samsung Access, this new program applies to customers who want to own a new Galaxy S20.

Samsung has launched its own upgrade program, following Apple’s iPhone upgrade program a few years ago. But Access is a completely new thing. In addition to allowing consumers to buy flagship phones at lower monthly fees, Access also includes a Microsoft 365 subscription with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage and Premium Care protection.

With Samsung Access, you can choose to keep your existing phone or upgrade to a newer model every 9 months without having to pay extra. If you want to upgrade before that time, you have to pay 100 USD. You will still have to return the old device in good condition, and that’s when the Premium Care package takes effect. Samsung’s program allows you to repair or replace a broken phone with a deduction of $ 99 up to 3 times in 12 months. First Galaxy S20 phones are made of glass, and they won’t survive any drop – that’s why you need Premium Care.

Microsoft 365 subscription gives you the same benefits as purchased separately, meaning you can use every Office application and OneDrive storage.

Access’s pricing starts at $ 37 / month for the Galaxy S20, $ 42 / month for the Plus, and $ 48 / month for the S20 Ultra. That way, you can save up to $ 324 over a 36-month period – also the contract period. These savings include Premium Care and Microsoft 365.

The Galaxt Note 20 series will undoubtedly be included in the Access program once launched in August. Galaxy Fold 2 with a much higher price than the Note 20 is also likely to be present.

You can cancel Access at any time, but you will lose $ 100 if you do that in the first 3 months. This service will also apply to some Samsung TVs.
