For the first time a new iPhone was made outside of China

According to two Indian technology officials, production of the iPhone 11 here will increase in stages. Apple may consider exporting iPhone 11 “made in India” to reduce its dependence on China. In addition, manufacturing iPhones in India saves Apple 22% of import taxes.

India Times quoted industry officials as saying that Apple is also considering a new iPhone SE production plan at the Wistron plant near Bengaluru. The previous iPhone SE was made here.

The latest move shows that Apple is increasingly manufacturing operations in India to benefit from the government’s incentive for joint initiatives. It also helps “defective apples” to expand production facilities outside of China in the context of strained US-China relations.

Of the three iPhone models released in 2019, the iPhone 11 is the best-selling model in India. According to sources, the iPhone 11 “made in India” was available on the shelves in the country. In addition to iPhone 11, Apple also manufactures iPhone XR and iPhone 7 at Foxconn and Wistron factories, respectively.
