For gamers free download GTA V, Epic Games Store crashes immediately

The Epic Games Store is in the process of counting down to free times for some games at 11am (US time). The most notable of these is Grand Theft Auto V, when a tweet said it would be free for the batch. But when the clock passed 11am, the Epic Games Store’s server went down immediately. The reason is because people simultaneously refresh the store’s website to get this free game.

On Twitter, Epic admitted its gaming distribution platform had some connectivity issues from 11:05 am (US time) until 12:58 pm.

Earlier, a tweet that leaked earlier said, Grand Theft Auto V will be free to download until May 21.

Not only Epic’s gaming distribution platform, the huge amount of traffic also affects other Epic services. Fortnite’s official account on Twitter said the game was “investigating issues” encountered on PCs and Macs.

According to the status page for Epic’s services, Epic’s mobile game Battle Breakers suffers from similar issues.

Now even though the Epic Games Store is back, if you want to download GTA V for free, you’ll have to turn on 2-factor authentication for your account. Epic also posts instructions for turning on 2-factor authentication here .

In December 2018, Epic released dozens of its titles for free when the Epic Games Store was officially launched. And in January this year, the company said it would continue to release more free games until the end of 2020.
