Filco launches a mechanical keyboard made entirely of steel, weighing more than 4Kg

Japanese manufacturer Diatec, the father of the famous mechanical keyboard brand Filco, has recently launched a keyboard with a strangely simple design – it’s Majestouch 2S Metal SUS. This is an upgraded version of the Majestouch Metal, launched 15 years ago.
The special feature of Majestouch 2S Metal SUS is the material, when it is made entirely of steel, including the top and the base below. The manufacturer said that it used two types of steel, SUS304HL, 2mm thick and SUS430HL, 1.6mm thick for the two components mentioned above.
In addition, this keyboard also has a built-in palm rest, of course also made of steel. Thanks to this design, users will have a “cool” feeling every time they touch the keyboard. If the user does not feel comfortable in contact with steel (especially in winter when the weather is cold), Filco comes with a 2mm thick palm rest, made of polyolefin plastic.
Even the base of the Majestouch 2S Metal SUS is very different, as it is two screws with a plastic base that the user can turn to adjust the tilt angle accordingly. According to Filco, this keyboard can be tilted from 7 degrees (equivalent to 67mm height) to 11 degrees (103mm).
As a “full metal” keyboard, it’s not surprising to see Majestouch 2S Metal SUS much heavier than conventional plastic mechanical keyboards. Specifically, it has a weight of nearly 4.4Kg. In fact, it was so heavy that Filco had to integrate a handle on the back so that users could carry it. The manufacturer also recommends that users do not hold the keyboard vertically.
Although it is a high-end keyboard model, Filco does not have LED keys, but only three basic LEDs, Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. In return, it uses a high-end Cherry MX switch with brown/red/silver versions and PBT material keycap with characters molded into the plastic part, so it will not fade over time.
Majestouch 2S Metal SUS supports PS/2 and USB protocols. This keyboard of Filco will be sold for 289 USD (6.5 million VND) from October 12.
