However, over the years, on the Internet, many other websites have grown to impersonate Unikey’s official website, created by organizations and individuals that have not been licensed by the author. The main purpose of these websites is to make money through advertising. However, these websites can also be used to spread malicious code, because they distribute modified versions of Unikey and are not authenticated by the author.

Among them, the most famous is Unikey.vn. In addition to inserting ads, this website also distributes the Unikey version as an installer, with the .exe extension. This is a version not distributed by the author Pham Kim Long.

In the face of security risks, on the evening of February 16, hacker Ngo Minh Hieu, also known by the nickname Hieu PC, announced that Unikey.vn website had been crashed with the support of the unit. domain management.

After this notice, users can no longer access Unikey.vn website. However, according to our records, this situation did not last long. Because now, just two days after the above announcement, this fake website can be accessed normally again.

Recently, Hieu PC has continued to post on social networks about this issue. Although he did not explain specifically, however, Hieu confirmed that Unikey.vn was operating again and called this a “good signal”.

“Wake up and post the post, go to sleep again, tell everyone that the report has been processed. As for the other fake unikey, there is a temporary cooperation, so the domain manager has reopened as agreed, that’s a good signal, there’s nothing wrong with it! Know what’s wrong and fix it.”

As we noted, the Unikey.vn website has removed the .exe installer version and only provides the .zip archive version, similar to the version on the official Unikey.org website. Through checksum checking, two .zip files from Unikey.vn and Unikey.org are identical.

However, this does not mean that Unikey.vn is considered a safe website. Unikey.vn website still has the same interface as before when it is inserted with a lot of ads, including ads that “disguise” the Download button, easily misleading users and infected with malicious code.

In addition, this website also makes false statements, saying that users should only download Unikey through Unikey.vn website to ensure computer safety, while this is a fake website. Unikey.vn also does not mention the official website Unikey.org.

In fact, under the comment section, Hieu PC still insists that users should only download Unikey at the official website, Unikey.org. The Anti-Phishing tool developed by Hieu PC’s team still considers Unikey.vn to be an unreliable website.
