Facebook’s new Incubator can revolutionize open source

Open Source is sometimes a rather lazy way of distributing software. However, Facebook is still traveling into this old and new field, with the brand new Incubator hub.

Incubator is not for everyone, but only for projects in facebook. At the same time, Incubator also brings a new perspective on open source.

In a discussion with TechCrunch, Facebook, the successful Incubator projects will be carefully reviewed and managed. Proper documenting, community access and widespread application support will help projects in Incubator develop into independent repos.

At the same time, you can still benefit from the Incubator projects (obviously, still a project open source). The first project is promoted in Incubator to create-react-app , repo to create React Web projects without build configurations.

But especially, with Incubator, we are not looking for repos. Like the new document feature of Stack Overflow , Incubator can bring new perspectives on project development.

Many people may argue that Incubator is not necessary. But in fact, the Incubator may be the way to help a large company, distributing new tools without having to get lost in the swirling pool of GitHub. Apple and Google are also likely to follow similar initiatives, perhaps hosting multiple incubators under one account.

Show create-react-app repo on expansion with over 6,000 stars and 300 fork. It is unclear how Facebook will manage in the future, but with the current situation, things are still very positive.
