Facebook sues 4 people living in Vietnam for hacking and appropriating accounts

Then they run unauthorized ads. The Facebook blog claims victims were scammed, leading to account loss after installing an app from the Google Play Store called “Ad Manager for Facebook”. The app has now been removed by Google.

Once “Ad Manager for Facebook” is downloaded, the victim will share their Facebook login and other information. The perpetrators use this information to access the account and then run ads. In some cases, online scams are promoted.

According to Romero, the group ran more than $36 million in illegal advertising. Facebook has refunded victims and helped them secure their accounts. Facebook said it was trying to expose the entire behavior of the four perpetrators, holding them accountable for writing the “Ad Manager for Facebook” application, tricking people into installing, infringing on their accounts, and then using them to cheat. Unauthorized advertising.

According to Facebook, this is the company’s second lawsuit against account hijacking. The first lawsuit occurred in December 2019, in which the defendant tricked people into installing malicious code on the Internet. The malicious code allows the defendant to compromise the victim’s Facebook account, run unauthorized ads to promote items such as fakes, imitations, weight loss pills.
