Facebook in turn was discovered using human staff to listen to the user’s recordings

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Facebook has hired external contractors to evaluate and compile user recordings. Facebook said it had stopped using human staff to evaluate the recordings “from more than a week ago,” and stressed that outside contractors had been hired only to check the hidden conversations. Whether the name is correctly compiled in the Messenger application.

Since 2015, Messenger has provided a feature to translate recordings into text – Voice to Text, even if it is disabled by default. Facebook claims that only those who choose to enable this feature have voice recording conversations evaluated by third-party contractors.

However, on your support page, if only one person in your chat group agrees to let Facebook translate your conversation, any audio segment in that chat stream will be compiled, no matter who who sent them up.

More worrisome, Facebook did not mention using human employees to judge and translate these recordings, whether on Facebook’s support page or terms of service. Meanwhile, the support page only states: ” The Voice to Text feature uses learning machines. The more you use these features, the more Voice to Text help you .”

The Bloomberg report said: ” Facebook says that their systems automatically handle the content and communications between you and others to analyze the context and what’s inside it. They don’t mention it. having someone else scan this content . ”

In the terms of service page, Facebook only talks about third-party contractors such as ” support our business ” by ” analyzing how our products are used , “But they did not make clear that this could include using people to evaluate recorded conversations.

While there are conspiracy theories that Facebook is secretly eavesdrop on user conversations for years, Bloomberg reports that Facebook doesn’t really do that. Third-party contractors are allowed to listen to recordings of users who allow them to do so – in theory. Facebook just doesn’t tell the user about what he is creating.

This report comes at a time when a series of tech giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon have been found to use human employees to listen to recorded recordings through virtual assistant products. without telling the user. After being discovered, technology firms all said they had stopped this, or allowed users to choose whether to use that feature or not.
