Epic and Samsung joined forces to mock Apple

Fortnite developer Epic Games continues to make aggressive moves with Apple, and this last time, they’ve teamed up with Samsung to send a bag of gifts to influencers on the internet. Package includes what? An embroidered Apple logo with the words “Free Fortnite” (free to Fortnite) and a Galaxy Tab S7, all in a box with an Apple design.

Notably, inside the gift package there is also a letter with the following content:

Hi there,

Fortnite has been named Game of the Year 2020 on the Samsung Galaxy Store. To celebrate, we’ve partnered with Samsung to send you a special gift box featuring a #FreeFortnite accessory kit.

While Fortnite isn’t currently available on the App Store or Google Play, you can download the latest Fortnite updates directly from the Epic Games app on the Galaxy Store. Let everyone know. #FreeFortnite.

Epic likes Apple swirls

Neither Epic nor Samsung were the first to tease Apple. Samsung, even though it is a manufacturing partner of Apple, regularly deflects Apples with defects. Epic also created an animated parody of Apple’s famous 1984 Mac commercials, with a character from Epic’s game named Tart Tycoon. Epic and Apple are currently fighting fiercely in court after Apple kicked Epic out of the App Store regarding Epic’s breach of developer agreement by selling products in Fortnite without going through the App Store. That move by Epic makes Apple unable to enjoy its commission as ever. And this one-to-one battle will continue to be interestingly going on in 2021.

An interesting part of the Epic war – Apple is predicting which side the other companies will be on. It is not surprising that Samsung chose to support Epic, as they will be able to take advantage of this opportunity to lash out at Apple, while borrowing the Fortnite title to attract consumers to choose to buy their Galaxy phones. Facebook, which is not very close to Apple, has also chosen to side Epic.
