Elon Musk again predicts when humans will go to Mars, this time in 2029

In an interview about 3 months ago, Elon Musk once shared that in the best case, SpaceX will send humans to Mars in about 5 years and the worst case is 10 years.

Recently, Musk continued to speculate when humans will go to Mars and he gave a specific number. The SpaceX CEO predicted on Twitter that humans could reach the Red Planet before the end of the decade.

Earlier, a Twitter account named Space_Hub posted a photo showing the Apollo 11 landing on the Moon in 1969 with an image of people on Mars with the words “20_ _?”. This post tagged Elon Musk’s account as a way to get the billionaire’s attention, along with the question “What is your prediction?”

On Wednesday, Musk responded.

“In 2029,” Musk commented.

Musk has long talked about his plans to colonize Mars, and over the years he has made many predictions about when humans might land on the planet. In 2016, he said, “If everything goes according to plan, we should be able to send people to Mars by 2025.”

In 2020, Musk said he hopes to build 1,000 Starships within 10 years to send 1 million people to Mars by 2050. Last year, Musk backtracked on his earlier predictions, saying he was “very trust” SpaceX will send humans to Mars by 2026.
