Issuing citizen identification with chip is a task in the project of developing the application of population data, identification and electronic authentication for national digital transformation in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030. Project 06 for short). The main purpose is to help people solve administrative procedures quickly and simply.

To do this, the first basic condition is that each citizen must do a chip-based citizen identification and receive an electronic identification account, activate this account on the VNEID application.

With this electronic identity account, citizens will have many advantages such as:

– Implementation of online public services. When doing the personal information, you will be able to fill in the registration forms yourself without having to declare and fill in the information many times, saving a lot of time and costs.

– Replace CCCD and integrated documents that citizens register such as driver’s license, vehicle registration, health insurance card…

– Perform financial transactions (payment of electricity and water bills, payment of social insurance, health insurance, money transfer, etc.)

That is why from January 1, 2023, when the VNEID system is officially applied, paper household registration will be removed.

Sit anywhere, at any time, with just a smartphone or computer with an Internet connection and with only 4 very simple steps.

For example, with “Issuing; re-issuing; amending; supplementing passports” level 4, citizens only need to operate in the following order:

Step 1: In addition to citizens logging in/registering for an account issued by the national public service, it’s now easy to create an account or log in with an e-ID account on the VNEID app.

Step 2: Complete registration procedures such as uploading photos, entering information, attaching documents and submitting for approval.

Step 3: Choose an online payment method.

Step 4: Receive your passport in the form of a registered citizen, by post or immigration authority.

Thus, citizens did not need to go to agencies to handle administrative procedures as before. This has greatly facilitated people in the context of the high demand for going abroad after the COVID-19 pandemic.
