Don’t upgrade your PC to a new Intel chip if you still want to watch Ultra HD Blu-ray discs

This technical issue arises from the fact that Ultra HD Blu-ray discs require Digital Rights Management (DRM), which requires SGX to function. This is a feature that Intel introduced on the Skylake generation in 2016.

However, according to Intel’s datasheet for the Core 11 and 12 generations, SGX has been listed as a deprecated technology.

As a secure encryption technology, SGX is often targeted for testing by security researchers, who have discovered many vulnerabilities in SGX. Therefore, from a security perspective, removing SGX is a safer move for Intel.

Currently, most ordinary users are no longer interested in playing Blu-ray discs on PC, but nonetheless there will be a part of users who love using Ultra HD Blu-ray discs affected, for example. as avid film collectors.
