According to research on US practices, phone models exported and sold in this market are tested and published on the FCC website. This site hosts and allows access to various types of procedural documents such as rule building, licensing, authorization, claims, tariffs, and other official forms.
On the FCC website, information about a smartphone model believed to be a “child” of VinSmart and AT&T was revealed in the EAS section – Electronic equipment to be sold in the US market.
VinSmart’s phone model appeared on the FCC page with the code 2AVD3V340U from June 23 with a letter of introduction and information about the results of the quality tests. On July 20, the FCC officially published the label information, revealing the first “unknown numbers” of this phone model.

The remarkable point is the words ” AT&T SKU: S505C and Dillon Device Label “. Thus, this phone model is developed and manufactured by VinSmart, but when sold in the US, it will carry the AT&T brand name. Machine name can be Dillon, or the carrier can change the name when officially sold on the market.
At the same time, on October 10, Bloomberg published information on the Terminal system, VinSmart received a federal certification of a smartphone model manufactured under the AT&T brand name in June 2020. Thus, this phone model has met the quality standards and will be sold in the US market in the near future.
Consolidating the data about Vingroup’s announcement of its plans to attack the US market, it is possible that this phone will soon be released in November or December 2020.
Specifically, in December 2019, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong shared on Bloomberg about his plan to enter the high-tech field. He said that this is a good step for an aspiring enterprise to step into the world market and affirm the plan of global expansion.
Not long after that, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy – Vice President of Vingroup revealed in the First Move program of veteran journalist Julia Chatterlet, CNN that VinSmart will enter the US market this year. Thus, AT&T can sell Dillon phones in November or December 2020 according to “timeline” shared by Ms. Thuy.
On the afternoon of October 8, during a seminar on 5G Technology, Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy continued to reveal that the company is developing and manufacturing phones for a major US carrier, the first shipment has been shipped to the US. Under the confidentiality agreement, VinSmart is not allowed to disclose the name of the partner and which models are produced by this company.

Currently there is no official information from the Vietnamese telephone company about the cooperation and the time AT&T sells the phone in Co Hoa Country. However, the official information on the FCC website and published by Bloomberg proves the authenticity of the deal. This is also considered a successful step of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong on the way to bring Vietnam to the “international playing field”. At the same time, changing the way the world is looking at Vietnam as a poor, backward country, now recognized by the international market, especially in the US – the world’s largest economy.
