Despite his commitment to not disclosing any technological secrets when he joins a Chinese tech company, it seems that former Samsung executive, Chang Won-ki, feels that it is not. enough to quell the controversy surrounding the possibility of technology leaks.

According to South Korean news site Chosun Ilbo yesterday, the former Samsung executive will give up his position at Chinese technology firm Beijing Eswin Technology. According to the report, his departure from the newly joined company was to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and not to hurt Samsung or his successors.

Mr. Chang joined Samsung Electronics in 1981. He started his career here in the semiconductor business and later headed up LCD manufacturing. He became head of Samsung China in 2011 and remained in this position until 2017 before leaving the company.

Mr. Chang said, his move to Eswin is only because of his friendship with Eswin founder, Wang Dongsheng. Most notably, Wang is also the chairman of Chinese display maker BOE, Samsung’s rival. This has become a source of controversy surrounding Mr. Chang’s joining Eswin.
