The company said in a statement: “We are aware of some issues with Coinbase and Coinbase Pro. We are aware that some features are not working properly. The company is investigating these issues and will release updates as soon as possible.”
Bitcoin in today’s session sometimes fell off the $30,000 mark, then recovered and traded around more than $35,000. Ethereum also dropped 44% to $1,907, Dogecoin lost nearly 51% to $0.2396, according to CoinMarketCap.
Some netizens have expressed frustration when Coinbase’s app and website crashes, especially in the context of the cryptocurrency’s plunge and they are looking for ways to “fish the bottom”.
Meanwhile, another major trading platform, Binance, also announced to temporarily stop trading some cryptocurrencies. The company said: “ETH and ERC20 are temporarily disabled due to network congestion. Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience.”
After about an hour, Coinbase’s service was back to normal.
