" Due to concerns surrounding the corona virus (Covid-19) and following health guidelines from CDC, WHO and other healthcare organizations, we decided to cancel the physical Google I / O event at Shoreline Amphitheater . " A Google spokesman explained in the statement sent to The Verge.

I / O Conferences is often the biggest event of the year for Google to introduce new changes in Android, Google's hardware and even updates to their services like Google Maps. Google says it is exploring " other ways for Google I / O to best connect and continue building our developer community. "

Google said participants will receive a full refund on March 13, and those who have purchased tickets for this year's event will be automatically granted the option to purchase tickets for Google I / O events. 2021.

The cancellation of Google I / O is the latest in a series of recent technology events that have to be canceled due to concerns about corona viruses.
