Compare Bphone B86 and Vsmart Live: Same Snapdragon 675 chip but Bphone 2.5 times more expensive, is it worth the money?

Vsmart Live and Bphone B86 are the two most advanced Vietnamese smartphones of VinSmart and BKAV. Vsmart Live was launched in August 2019 for 7 million VND, but after many adjustments, it is currently only about 3.5 million VND. Meanwhile, Bphone B86 is priced at VND 8.99 million.

In terms of design and machining quality, Bphone B86 is rated higher than Vsmart Live. Bphone B86 has a glass back and a metal bezel, while Vsmart Live is made entirely of plastic.

On the front, both models carry a full screen design, no rabbit ears, no holes. However, Vsmart Live is more sympathetic thanks to the symmetry in the upper / lower screen borders. In addition, Vsmart Live also uses an AMOLED screen, for better display quality than the Bphone B86 LCD screen.

BKAV has removed the volume key on Bphone B86, replaced by gesture and is called “the first smartphone in the world without buttons”. In fact, the absence of buttons creates a lot of annoyance during use, users are difficult to get used to and cannot operate as quickly as buttons. This is a problem they will not encounter with Vsmart Live.

Talking about the nuisance during use, not only the keys, BKAV also removed the headphone jack on Bphone B86. Again, Vsmart Live users do not face this problem.

The camera of Bphone B86, though promoted by BKAV, is not impressive at all. Compared to Vsmart Live, they both “surrender” to capturing the moment in low light.

Even with the sNight feature enabled (which BKAV advertises as “able to take clear pictures even when it is very dark”), the image quality of Bphone B86 has not improved much. The Night Mode feature of Vsmart Live shows a more pronounced effect, but the image is still difficult to use due to loss of detail.

In brightly lit conditions, both give essentially similar images. In the comparison image above, Bphone B86 is slightly higher due to the brighter colors and better dynamic range.

In return, Vsmart Live has a huge advantage thanks to the presence of ultra-wide angle lens (ultrawide). This is a feature that every smartphone launched in the past year has, but Bphone B86 is missing.

In terms of configuration, both Bphone B86 and Vsmart Live are equipped with Snapdragon 675 chip. Bphone B86 has 4GB RAM, while Vsmart Live has two versions of 4GB and 6GB RAM.

Vsmart Live’s battery capacity is 4000mAh, while Bphone B86 is only 3000mAh. Both support Quick Charge with the included charger.

Vsmart Live has a built-in fingerprint sensor, while Bphone B86 remains faithful to the traditional sensor on the back. Despite the more advanced technology, Vsmart Live’s fingerprint sensor is not as sensitive and fast as Bphone B86.

A strong point of Bphone B86 compared to other products is the water resistance standard “IP68 +”. Although IP68 + is a standard created by BKAV and has not been verified by any organization, it still makes users feel more secure when using the device in the rain, or accidentally dropping the device into the water.

In addition, Bphone B86 is also integrated with BKAV Mobile Security software, which helps block spam, advertising and some malware. However, the BKAV too much interference in Android makes BOS 8.6 of Bphone B86 not Play Protect, but according to Google, it can affect the safety of the device.

Although Bphone has the advantages of design, waterproof and blocking spam messages; However, considering Vsmart Live is completely superior in the remaining factors and the price is only half that, it is difficult to give a good reason to buy Bphone B86.
