Close-up of the first laptop in the world with … 7 screens: Super-heavy configuration, weighing 12kg, buyers are not informed of the price.

Tram Ho

Recently, a company from the UK named Expanscape introduced the technology world a relatively odd product: the world’s first laptop integrated with … 7 screens.

Called Aurora 7, next to the main screen, this laptop is equipped with 5 extra screens surrounding and one screen below the armrest. In particular, 4 of these screens are 17 inches in size and 4K resolution, while the remaining 3 screens are 7 inches in size and lower Full HD resolution.

The configuration of this “laptop” is also relatively strong and on par with a desktop. The Aurora 7 is equipped with Intel Core i9-9900K chip, 64GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, 2 NVMe SSDs (1 TB + 512GB), 1 SSD 2.5 1TB and 1 HDD 2TB. And yet, the machine is also integrated up to 2 Wi-Fi network cards and 3 ethernet network cards. Expanscape is currently planning to upgrade this machine to the AMD Ryzen 3950X / Intel Core i9-10900K chip and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU.

Of course, to be able to “carry” this terrible number of screens, the Aurora 7 must have a very large battery capacity. It includes an 82Wh battery for the calculator part, and a 148Wh battery just for the screen. This “terrible” battery capacity is enough for the machine to operate for about 1 hour. If users overclocked the 9900K chip to 4Ghz, the battery life was only 28 minutes. In addition, because the total battery capacity exceeds 100Wh, users will not be able to bring this machine on the plane (and probably no one wants to do so).

Combining all of the above, it is clear that the Aurora 7 is not a light weight machine. With a weight of 12Kg, perhaps this machine is born just to put on a table, not on the user’s lap or bag.

The process of “transforming” the Aurora 7 into a laptop with 7 screens

It’s not hard to see 99.99999999% of users won’t buy this laptop. Instead, Aurora 7 was born to serve certain types of users, which, according to Expanscape, is aimed at security professionals.

The price of the Aurora 7 is also not revealed by Expanscape. In fact, users would have to contact Expanscape if they wanted to buy the device, and even after they did, they would have to sign an agreement (NDA) not to disclose the price to anyone. What a quirky process for a product is just as outrageous!
