Close the TV and phone segment, but VinSmart will still outsource to partners, producing smartphones to export to the world

On May 9, Vingroup Group announced to close the TV and mobile phone segment to focus on developing high technology for VinFast. However, this does not mean that Vingroup will stop producing phones and televisions.

According to information from Vingroup, VinSmart’s factories will continue to produce existing phones and televisions until the end of the product’s life cycle to supply the market.

After that, part of the factory will be used to process for partners, the rest is expanded to adjust to the production of new products.

It is known that VinSmart owns a factory located in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, with an area of ​​14.8 hectares, a design capacity of 26 million devices per year, including 23 million phones, one million IoT devices and more than 2 million other smart electronic devices. With this factory, Vinsmart is currently the outsourcing partner for US carrier AT&T. 3 phone models produced by VinSmart under the AT&T brand name appeared at the network’s stores in the US in early 2021, with code names V340U, V341U and V350U, respectively.

Retaining the outsourcing segment will help VinSmart have a significant income from foreign partners, take advantage of the production line in the context that Vietnam has a great opportunity to replace China to become the factory of the world. . In recent years, the relationship between the US and China has shown signs of deterioration, and even Apple has been threatened with an increase in taxes on iPhones made and imported from China. In addition, the Covid-19 epidemic in 2020 also caused factories in China to stall for a while, causing the phone companies to have more need to differentiate their supply chains to reduce their dependence on China.

With the successful production of famous carriers like AT&T of the US, VinSmart will build a name in the eyes of international partners and the factory in Hoa Lac will be able to export more phones to the world. even on those phones, VinSmart may not be listed.

Regarding products sold to the market, VinSmart commits to maintain the warranty, repair and care as committed until the day when customers no longer use the product. In particular, a part of the phone software design department continues to research to upgrade and update Vsmart phones that have been sold to the market.
