Xloong, the augmented reality startup (AR), has created smart glasses for Chinese police since 2017. When wearing these glasses, the police can identify faces, citizen codes and number plate information. The vehicle links to the national database in real time. Following the startup, AR glasses help free the hands for the police and increase the effectiveness of detecting suspects.

Glass is being used by law enforcement officers at high-speed patrol stations and airports. 6 local police departments also use Xloong equipment.

Xloong is a company founded by former hardware engineer Huawei Shi Xiaogang. 4-year-old startups now have more than 100 employees. In addition, they developed smart helmets for the Chinese military.

Besides top protection, the hi-tech functions of hats include AR tracking, communication, night vision and positioning. He said he signed a contract worth “tens of millions of yuan” to provide helmets to defense company China North Industries Group.

In addition to applications in defense and crime prevention, Xloong also sells headsets for civilian industries such as tourism, real estate, health and direct selling to users. In 2016, the company released a sports version of AR glasses, supporting video recording, Bluetooth, electronic map projection for runners and cyclists. Headset sold on e-commerce platforms such as Tmall and JD.com or at retail stores like Suning.

Headset sports version costs about 1,500 yuan, while AR glass for industrial use costs about 15,000 yuan. Xloong also supplies some partners in Southeast Asia and plans to expand into the US.
