China is “thirsty” for iPhone production workers, companies compete with each other to offer huge bonuses to attract workers

Tram Ho

As usual every year, Apple is expected to officially launch the iPhone 13 in September and this is also the time when suppliers and manufacturers are working at full capacity to ensure Apple will have a sufficient number of devices in stock when starting. opening sale.

Before Apple launches new iPhones, companies like Foxconn, Luxshare, and Lens Technology will often start recruiting and they are looking for temporary workers to speed up iPhone assembly, but according to a report new, now these companies have to deal with a difficult situation because of the shortage of workers, they are struggling to find the necessary manpower to ensure the upcoming production will not be affected.

Needless to say, all companies are trying to attract new workers with higher bonuses. For example, a person who joins Foxconn and signs a 90-day contract with the company can receive a bonus of nearly 10,200 yuan (about more than 36 million VND).

Lens Technology is also offering bonuses of up to 10,000 yuan (over 35 million VND) for new workers.

Luxshare Precision’s factory in Guangdong province doubled its internal referral bonus from 2,500 yuan (about 9 million VND) in April to 5,000 yuan (about 18 million VND) at the end of May. The company also announced announced bonuses of up to 3,800 yuan (about 13.5 million VND) for workers who previously left the company who want to return to work, according to a job advertisement posted on the company’s official WeChat account.

This shows that Apple’s partners in China are very “thirsty” for human resources to fill all positions before producing iPhone 13.

The recruitment push is aimed at getting ready with increased production of new iPhone models. According to Dan Ives, chief executive officer of investment firm Wedbush Securities, Apple is aiming to ship between 130 and 150 million new iPhones by the second half of 2021.

Ives said that Apple’s supply chain in Asia will produce between 90 and 100 million units to meet initial orders for the iPhone 13.

However, China’s labor force growth is believed to have peaked, especially as factory jobs rapidly lose appeal to the younger generation, which has led to that factories have to raise wages to attract the workforce.

Apple is expected to launch four iPhone models this year, all of which are successors to existing devices already on the market: mini, standard, Pro, and Pro Max.

However, it is rumored that 2021 will be the last year of the iPhone mini, as Apple wants to abandon the 5.4-inch form factor due to poor sales of the current model.

If this is indeed true, the iPhone 13 mini could be the last 5.4-inch iPhone, the iPhone line will then launch in three versions or add another large screen version.
