China inaugurated the tallest horizontal building in the world

If you are afraid of heights, then perhaps this is the right time to switch to another article. If not? You can book a ticket to Chongqing to visit the newly opened “horizontal building” named Crystal of Raffles City complex, which is still under construction.

The building looks like a bridge across the sky at a height of 250 meters above the ground, including a park, and an observatory with a base made of … glass.

With only 3,000 tickets sold every day, this attraction quickly sold out on the opening weekend.

Crystal Building

The entire Raffles City Chongqing project was designed by Moshe Safdie and consists of 8 buildings. Following the style similar to Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, four of the eight towers are responsible for supporting a horizontal structure called Crystal at a height of 250 meters above the ground.

The crystal is 300 meters long and weighs 12,000 tons – lifted to the above height with technical assistance from Arup Corporation.

Exploration Deck

The journey to the Exploration Deck (discovery floor) on the world’s tallest horizontal building starts from the first floor, where there is a National Graphic exhibition booth detailing the history and development of the city of Trung Independence. Visitors will then be able to zoom to the top of the building in just 50 seconds to walk through another interesting exhibit, depicting future life on Mars.

Next is a miniature park, where you can cross a green area floating in midair to enter the Exploration Deck. Here, you will stand on a risky glass floor, with panoramic views of the city below, as well as see the beautiful landscapes where the two Yangtze and Jialing rivers nearby.

In the next few months, in Crystal will open a club with 2 swimming pools, restaurants and bars. They are currently under construction, and once completed will greatly expand the space of this new building architecture.

The cost to reach the Exploration Deck is about 25 USD.
