Origin Quantum, a quantum computing company based in Anhui province, Eastern China, has successfully developed the 24-qubit Wuyuan quantum computer. According to a notice sent to the Global Times on January 30, the company delivered the computer to an unnamed customer more than a year ago.

This is the first official confirmation of this breakthrough technology being used in real-world applications in China. In addition, the notice did not detail the users or potential applications of the computer.

However, this success has made China the third country in the world capable of providing complete quantum computers, and cemented the country’s leading position in computer research. quantum.

“Over 100 quantum computing companies around the world have invested heavily in quantum research and development. The Canadian quantum computing company sold its first quantum computer in 2011, continuing followed by IBM of the US in 2019. Origin Quantum of China delivered a quantum computer in 2021,” said Zhang Hui, director of the Anhui Quantum Computer Engineering Research Center.

Mr. Zhang said that quantum computing has become an area of research competition between countries, as more and more large organizations and companies are entering the field. As a result, the production of practical universal quantum computers will be accelerated.

Origin Quantum is the first quantum computing company in China, founded in 2017. Three years later, it launched “Wuyuan”, the first domestically produced superconducting quantum computer, providing services quantum computing services for global users through the cloud platform.

In 2022, Origin Quantum released the first collaborative computing system solution for quantum computing and supercomputing. This solution can take full advantage of quantum computers and supercomputers in both directions.

A quantum computer is a type of computer that uses quantum mechanics to perform calculations more efficiently than conventional computers. It uses elemental particles called qubits to replace the 0s and 1s used in traditional computing.
