China announced production of oral vaccine against COVID-19 virus

According to a statement issued by Tianjin University yesterday (February 26), the above oral vaccine uses a secondary grade saccharomyces cerevisiae as a carrier and the protein spike of corona virus is the target point for making antibodies against COVID-19.

Professor Huang’s team has created oral vaccines in the form of capsules , milk capsules and granules. They also developed the core technology to create this vaccine.

Professor Huang said the oral vaccine could stimulate mucosal immunity to prevent infection. It may also be a potential therapy for infected patients to fight coronavirus.

“The vaccine is very safe, convenient to use and can be quickly produced on a large scale,” Huang said in a statement issued by Tianjin University.

As a next step, Prof. Huang’s team is looking for businesses eligible to collaborate on the evaluation process, in order to speed up clinical testing and expand the use of vaccines.
