After the commercialization of the Galaxy Fold in 2019, this year we will witness the arrival of many foldable products, from phones to laptops and tablets. During the CES 2020 event, Lenovo unveiled its foldable tablet called the ThinkPad X1 Fold.
The prototype of this product was introduced in mid-2019 and now we can see it more clearly, with a roadmap of commercialization in the near future.
This is a tablet screen size is quite large, up to 13.3 inches, using LG’s OLED panel. However, you will not have to carry or put into a backpack / bag with such oversized design, because the X1 Fold has the ability to fold very compact.
When folded, the X1 Fold looks like a notepad with a leather covering on the outside, which looks great on business people.
This leather cover is quite good, when opening the screen to full size, the skin will be pulled full to protect, while folded, it will shrink to reveal a little cover outside.
The outer skin also acts as a stand without extra accessories. Connected with a wireless keyboard, this is like an office device that can be carried everywhere.
If it feels cumbersome, the ThinkPad X1 Fold also allows you to transform it into a compact laptop, just put the keyboard in half of the screen to be immediately. In addition, you can still leave this keyboard part to fold, very convenient to carry around.
The screen border is still thick, hopefully before the time of selling Lenovo will have some tweaks to make the product look more attractive when looking on the inside.
At the time of the present experience, the X1 Fold opens and closes quite smoothly, the level of finishing is good, where the fold is still wrinkled but not too obvious so basically does not cause difficulties in the use.
This keyboard is also equipped with wireless charging.
Lenovo representatives have not announced the final configuration of this product, but revealed it will use Intel Core with Hybrid technology and run on Windows 10 Pro. In addition, products running Windows 10 X for devices specializing in dual monitors and multi-monitors will also be sold in the near future.
The device shown at CES 2020 also shows that the software has been working quite stable, the machine has a mode for us to choose to split the screen or full screen when held horizontally, while holding it vertically, an additional option is displayed. Show the virtual keyboard or attach the bluetooth keyboard in the lower half.
With a weight of nearly 1 kg, this laptop hybrid tablet is quite convenient for those who travel a lot, especially for business people when it can be used anywhere. The ThinkPad X1 Fold will cost $ 2,499 (not including the pen and keyboard) and will be available in the middle of this year, while the 5G version will be available in the second half of this year.
