releasing ” many times in the past 2 months, with a series of predictions from users, Canon finally released its latest pair of mirrorless cameras (Mirrorless): EOS R5 and EOS R6 . This release almost confirms all previous rumors, and it is likely that these two products will bring Canon back to the top of the camera market after a long time being led by other brands.
Canon EOS R5
This is a product that has been touted by Canon since February this year, with the highest specs it can make in a mirrorless camera. It has a 45MP Full-frame sensor and Digic X image processor already in 1DX Mark III, enabling it to record 8K RAW videos at 30fps, 10-bit 4: 2: 2 and 4K at speeds up to 120fps; accompanied by 20 frames per second at the highest resolution – both are superior to Canon’s previous EOS R models as well as other competitors on the market.
It will have a Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system that covers 100% of the frame, including 1,053 selectable focus area points. Canon says it has fine-tuned it to make the internal focusing algorithm of the EOS R5 the most powerful, whether you use it in normal focus mode, facial focus or eye focus (which now supports animals like dogs, cats and birds).
The EOS R5 will also feature Canon’s first 5-axis image stabilization (IBIS) system, which works with RF mount lenses to provide up to 9-step stabilization. Finally, in terms of design, the device has an OLED EVF 5.76 million points, 120Hz frequency, 2.1 million main screen with multi-directional rotation, an auxiliary screen showing parameters on the top, 2 card ports (1 CFExpress and 1 SD UHS-II), headphone and mic ports, HDMI, built-in Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Canon EOS R6
Named higher number but the ‘cheaper’ option is the EOS R6. This is a machine with a 20.1MP Full-frame sensor and also with a Digic X processor, which provides 4K 10-bit 4: 2: 2 movie recording at 60fps, 1080 / 120p slow motion and continuous shooting at speed. 20fps. You won’t be able to shoot RAW movies in the R6, but there will still be a Dual Pixel CMOS AF II focusing system and 5-axis stabilization identical to the R5.
In terms of design, the R6 is a bit inferior to its higher-end product, with an OLED 3.69-million viewfinder, 1.62 million-dot swivel display, 2 UHS-II SD card ports, headphone and Mic, HDMI and Wifi, Bluetooth integrated. The weather resistance of the R6 will “be similar to the previous 6D, and will be weaker than the R5” .
The prices of the Canon EOS R6 and R5 will be USD 2,500 and USD 3900 respectively , when purchased with the RF 24-105mm f / 4-7.1 IS STM kit lens, they will increase to USD 3600 and USD 5000 respectively. The price is not cheap but lower than previous plans, when many people guessed that the EOS R5 with such a high configuration would cost up to 5000 USD for the camera body alone!
