Canalys: Samsung, Huawei, Apple lead the smartphone market but be wary because Xiaomi is chasing closely

On January 30, Canalys analytics firm released statistics on the global smartphone market in Q4 / 2019.

The figures show that the global smartphone market in the past quarter has had impressive growth. Specifically, smartphone manufacturers have sold a total of 368.7 million smartphones.

Which was quite surprising when Apple again led the market in Q4 / 2019 with sales of 78.4 million units, accounting for 21.3% of the market at that time. The unexpected rise of Apple in Q4 / 2019 can be explained by the unexpected success of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro series.

Samsung ranked second with 70.8 million units, Huawei ranked third with 56 million units, followed by Xiaomi with 33 million smartphones.

Figures from Canalys also show that Samsung continues to lead the market with a total sales of 298.1 million units, a market share of 21.8% in 2019.

Huawei ranked second with sales of 240.6 million units, accounting for 17.6% of the market, while Apple and Xiaomi took third and fourth place with 14.5% and 9.2% respectively. . Oppo is second only to Xiaomi with a market share of 8.8%.

The picture is bright and dark

Unfortunately, despite Apple’s spectacular acceleration in Q4 / 2019, overall in 2019, Apple’s sales tend to go down. In 2018, Apple sold 212.2 million units while in 2019 it was just 198.1 million units, down 7% from the previous year.
